Why is printing online coupons such a royal pain in the ass?

January 16, 2012

I love to coupon. LOVE it. But I swear, they couldn’t make printing online coupons any more complicated if they tried. It reminds me of the days of RealPlayer before Apple came along and straightened out how to make music EASY. It is so flipping stupid that I am livid actually. [...]

Etsy … bah

December 2, 2011

E tsy is a rip-off for small sellers.
If you sell small-ticket items, Etsy’s listing fees are a complete rip-off. Twenty cents a pop for three months may sound like a good deal, that is unless you are selling vintage patterns, some of which sell for $2.00 each, and don’t sell quickly. Etsy seriously [...]

Escapist Drug Number One: Scrapbooking

November 26, 2011

I have finally started scrapbooking again. I had done a little digital scrapbooking, and while that was fun, and MUCH cheaper, it doesn’t have the same appeal of having an actual book to hold and show off. So I decided to send off the digital files to be printed on 12×12 pages so [...]

Project Runway: Oliver is auff’d to the world of flat-chested women and pre-pubescent boys

September 24, 2011

Project Runway. How I hate/love thee and thy progeny. And I really hate to criticize the contestants because really, I know nothing about them. June 21, 2011

I watched three episodes of Season One, and while I am sure that television made it more sensationalistic as the seasons progressed, I saw absolutely no problem with what I saw. In fact, it was wonderful. Not only were the children competing, but their very real, very healthy-figured mothers were also competing, putting [...]

Yes/No it is cheaper to sew your own clothing

January 22, 2011

Janus explains,
No, it is not cheaper to sew your own clothing.
Mass production of ready-to-wear has driven costs way down of fairly sturdy and cute fashions. You can go to Target and get professional and clothing for a fraction of what you can sew for. For example, just using ballpark figures, on fabric alone, [...]

Crêpe Sew-Along, what the heck, we will call it week 3

January 9, 2011

Well here we are. Of course I am screwing up already and having a “learning experience.” I wanted to do those Hong Kong seams that I messed up in one of my last projects, and well, I messed them up again. Sigh. Here are some pics of the final stage of [...]

Vintage chest

December 28, 2010

No, I am not talking about elderly boobage, but about this cool little chest I bought to house my vintage sewing machine feet. It came filled with buttons, so that was pretty cool too, though it gave my OCD a run for its money in sorting the buttons. Irresistable.
